fame and glory at last

Today in a turn of events which I can only describe as deeply bizarre, renowned US soccer site Du Nord features an interview carried out by guest blogger Zach of Eleven Devils. And who, you ask, is the subject of this interview? why none other than your once humble but now thoroughly over-excited correspondent. My self-importance will inflate exponentially, I assure you. Any other interview requests can be dealt with by my agent. Also, could I get some kind of personal masseur in here? thanks.

Anyway since it is remotely possible that readers (I believe that Du Nord is awash with them) may somehow end up here. This has kind of thrown me into a panic, since the place is a bit of a mess, there are no fresh posts ready and I could do with putting the vacuum round round if guests are coming. but, er, welcome, anyway. Please help yourselves to old posts from the archive. Don't spill my fragile self-confidence with your comments.

"If the team of your city happens to have a strong element which is neo-fascist (as Roma sadly does) or perhaps supports Stalin (see Livorno) you just have to grin and bear it."

On. The. List.

Can you plug twatball while you're at it?

Oh, and I'm waiting for your entry.

Woah. What happened in the few minutes it took you to right that entry, Spangles? It started with exponentially inflating self-importance and ended with fragile self-confidence!

I have no idea whether this is the right place to say it or whether Du Nord is, but thank you for your kind comments about 200pc. I may print them off and stick them to the screen of my laptop.

"did you really say "y'all"?"

Haha...I was wondering that too.

Two thumbs up for a wonderful interview.

Not 100% relevant but I was routed from the Guardian to Pitch Invasion a couple of weeks ago, and found some rather interesting articles on Italian fans and songs. I was going to ask if you've written anything similar in the past, and then to my pleasant surprise...

Yes, I said y'all, I thought it would be funny. And put the Americans at ease, no?

ursus arctos said...

Sure.

We all speak like that all the time.

Sure we do.

Was the ahistorical and inaccurate attempt to link people who admire those who massacred people for their religion and are CURRENTLY burning immigrants out and murdering them, as well as forming a significant part of the Italian government and ruling Rome, with people who admire Communists for transforming the Soviet Union into a powerhouse that aided the democratic republican government of Spain, ripped the guts of fascism and liberated the death camps, and provided the inspiration and material support for numerous liberation struggles also to set Americans at their ease?

heheh I thought you'd enjoy that Garibaldy. with uncharacteristic oversight you seem to have missed out the "peace-loving peoples of the Soviet Union" from your rant there.

(I am not positing an equivalence. I am saying that many people find supporting Stalin deeply off-putting, as many people find Fascism off-putting. I made no judgement on the justifiability of those positions. I simply observed that as a football fan, you may find that your team is linked to a strong political position which may not be congenial to you, for whatever reason).

I appear to have been even rantier than I thought, having missed out the said phrase. It looks a lot like an equivalence to me. ou've been hanging out with American undergrads and Lord Bullock too much. Outrageous. For a start, Stalin could grow a proper moustache, unlike that other cunt.

Y'all are funny.

Sho'nuff.

Garibaldy, isn't it a bit early to be picking cherries in Toscana?

Too bad England did not qualify or I'm sure Rooney would be up front.

Ursus,

If I was fully certain of what you meant I'd respond properly. But I'm not.
