MILANO - F.C.

Or, in other words:

"Inter have informed Mr Roberto Mancini of his dismissal from the role of first-team coach, in particular due to the declarations made by the manager after the Inter-Liverpool game on 11 March [when Mancini first announced his resignation and then withdrew it]... and due to facts which have recently emerged in journalists' news reports."

is it just me or is this wholly specious? you're sacking him today (NB 29 May) because of something he said on 11 March? Or you're sacking him because of something you read in the papers? Give me a break, Moratti. Basically you want to claim you're sacking him so you don't have to pay off his contract (somewhere between 24-30 million euros?) and this is just cheap sophistry.

Not that I expected better, really. But do please try to remember that you're the champions of Italy and comport yourselves accordingly. Lord knows I hold no brief for Mancini, but this is shitty. Everyone knew he was off, if ever the phrase "by mutual agreement" was applicable, surely this was it. Now please let him not take his particular brand of tactical naivety to Chelsea.

Mancio's comments after the Liverpool game were pretty stupid. I'm no fan of Inter - in fact, I suspect I'm allergic to them - but I don't think he gave the club much option other than to keep him on for the sake of stability until the scudetto was in the bag, and then sack him.

If Mourinho is confirmed as Inter boss, Serie A might begin to resemble the SPL in the mid-90s - just a question of how many titles in a row they are going to win. Anyone know what the record is in Serie A?

The reference to the wiretapped conversations with the mob-connected tailor is the part that I found particularly appalling.

But I guess this is what happens when you slam the door of the Moratti family dining room (allegedly).

Mancini is now threatening to sue, which would make much of the Italian football press extremely happy, as the stories write themselves.

As Spangles says, this is all about money, and once the money is agreed (as it no doubt will be), it will all go away (much like Mancio).
