minor woot

A book review I wrote some time ago (perhaps 18 months?) of a book which came out even longer ago (perhaps in 2004?) has finally been published in the English Historical Review. Hfd. I had almost forgotten about it altogether. I can't remember what I said in it either. Still. This is all good, right?

This is indeed something to be celebrated. Whole generations of undergraduates will repeat a slightly more garbled version of your review in their weekly essays, as they have combined the genius of JSTOR and their own laziness to create a passable weekly essay...
Or was that just me?

Shush, failedgenius, we've an undeserved international reputation for intellectual rigour to protect here. Mind you, paraphrasing *reviews* of required reading off JStor in your essays is advanced-level dishonesty. You should be proud. (Are you sure this is right? - Ed.)

Congrats.

Is this a good time to remind you that you said that you would write a review on John Dickie's Cosa Nostra? I'm still waiting...

While on the subject of books I just came across this one which looks interesting: Winning at All Costs: A Scandalous History of Italian Soccer.

Isn't that just his book "Calcio" under another name for the US market?

Antonio
I don't know. I haven't read either of them. Although this one is newer, according to the publication date.

I'm pretty certain that's just "Calcio" under a new title for a new market. Certainly I know John is not working on football any more and has in his own words no further interest in doing so
