Milan 1 - 2 Roma

what a supersupersuper game this was. I had been hoping to go up but am far too skint, alas: train + hotel = lots of money. But damn I wish I'd gone.

First the result is obviously fantastic. But the whole game was great, exciting, pacy, loads of chances from both sides, a couple of really great goals, everything you could want really from traditionally one of the toughest games of the season.

Totti's first goal was great, a volley on the turn of a cross from Taddei, and the equaliser by Broccoli, er, I mean Brocchi, was even better, from outside the area, right under Chivu. For them, Maldini and Kakà played well, with intermittent quality from Seedorf. Milan were a bit unlucky, and I wouldn't have complained about a draw. On the other hand Pirlo looked knackered and gave the ball away too easily, they maybe missed Gattuso (out for at least 2 months with knackered cruciate ligaments). For us, De Rossi, Mexes, Doni, Aquilani when he came on were all great and so above all Francè! è tornato finarmente er capitano! woo. 2 top goals, and an all-round great performance, worthy man of the match. I had begun to fear he might never be the same again but after yesterday, am full of confidence.

last night's was the kind of game that reminds you why you love football in the first place. So we move on to 23 points, with Palermo on 27 and Inter on 24 to play Parma later this evening.

forza roma dai! non mollare mai!

I think Roma have played better and not won this season so - even if a draw was probably a fairer result there can't be many gripes about them getting the points. Beautiful through ball from Aquilani to set up one of the goals. The Giallorossi definitely mean business and, in the long run, must be bigger challengers to Inter than Palermo...
